Chen Style Short Form

Abstracted Chen Style Form

This is the Chen style T'ai Chi form that I've been working on since the year 2000. Nope, still haven't mastered it. There are a few different variations among schools; most count it at around 32-36 postures. I was first introduced to it by Sifu Valerie Lee (online.sfsu.edu/~kungfu/welcome), a student of Master Adam Hsu (www.adamhsu.com). I have since studied it further very briefly with Master Tony Yang (www.wutangcenter.com/wt) and his student Sifu Andy Lianto (www.wutangindonesia.com).

This form was developed by Master Liu Yunqiao, who abstracted forms for both the Yang and Chen styles of T'ai Chi for teaching in colleges in Taiwan. Master Hsu and Master Yang were disciples of Master Liu, who sent them both to Master Du Yuze for their training in Chen T'ai Chi.

Instructional videos of this form are available from classmates Master Hsu, Master Yang, Master Su Yu Chang (www.pachitanglang.com), and Sifu Wu (www.secretsoftheorient.com).

You'll also find some very good performances of this form on YouTube from various practitioners.
